In order to develop as a Substance Misuse Worker, you will need to build up your skills and knowledge. You can do this by going on relevant training courses and practical experience. A good way of gaining practical experience is by volunteering – see this section for more information. Many of the Substance Misuse organisations in Sussex provide their training and development in house. The Sussex DAATs also have training you can attend; If you would like to request a copy of the DAAT Training Manual, please contact elizabeth.flegg@westsussex.gov.uk
As working in the substance misuse sector means contact with vulnerable people, the majority of jobs require an enhanced Criminal Records Check. For further information please visit the following website: http://www.nacro.org.uk/'
